Niagara Falls is one of a kind experience that you can see for yourself for free 365 days a year, 24/7. While there are many other activities on both sides of the falls the park is free to enter but, you do have to pay for parking. Niagara Falls is one of the original seven wonders of the world. Don't sit around, growing old looking at your bucket list wishing you saw everything you wanted to see. Get the family, pack the bags and go on an adventure together. There are so many views to see without breaking the bank.
American Falls
If you park at parking lot 1 this is the location of the observation tower, visitor center, and the American Falls. This is my favorite spot on the American side because it is the only spot on the American side that you can see all three falls at one time. If you want the perfect view of all the falls you would have to cross the rainbow bridge into Canada. We ate at Skylon Tower and that was by far the best view.
The Rapids
Walk up the path and you will get this amazing view of the rapids. The paths are paved with lots of shady areas. Its crazy to see how fast the water moves. This area is referred to as "Hell's Half Acre" and it is not hard to see why.
View The Rapids From Another Angle
You can get a different perspective by seeing the rapids from above. There are two bridges that connect you to Goat Island. The first one is the American Rapids Bridge and the second is the pedestrian bridge.
The Point Of No Return
As you drove around you probably saw a lot of boats. If you keep walking up the path to the end of Goat Island or past both bridges you can see that the water does start to calm down. If you are looking from goat Island you can see on either side of parking lot 3 that the water begins to rush around the island, that is the point of no return. If you do however cross this point you will end up crossing over the falls.
Luna Island
If you walk along the edge path you will make your way to a woodly part of the park. This area lays between the American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls.
Terrapin Point
If you want to view all of the horseshoe falls at one on the American side then this is the spot for you. I've been to Niagara Falls twice in my life. Once in the summer and then again in the winter. I've noticed that this area is completely packed with people in the summer so, if you want to take it all in without the crowd of people I suggest going when the weather starts to cool down.
Niagara Falls At Night
As the sun goes down you get a whole different view of Niagara Falls. Lights from the Canadian side illuminate the falls giving your colorful experience. Dates and weather vary the firework display but, typically start at 9 PM. Click the photo below to see the firework over the Niagara Falls schedule.
I hope that you get time to visit. We hope to visit all the original seven wonders of the world. Braden and I have one checked off our bucket list already. In my opinion, I do like the New York side better to see Niagara Falls from the ground. If you want views from above or an exploration of attractions then I recommend going to the Canadian side.
