A Build-Tastic Birthday At Legoland In New York

If your family thrives on adventure, creativity, and a little sprinkle of magic, then LEGOLAND® New York Resort absolutely deserves a spot at the top of your must-visit list. This year, instead of throwing a traditional birthday party for my 6-year-old, Braden, we packed up, hit the road, and traded balloons and goodie bags for a full-blown LEGO celebration. And honestly? It was the best decision ever for our not-so-little, LEGO-obsessed guy.

Tucked away in Goshen, New York—just about an hour from NYC—LEGOLAND New York is the largest LEGOLAND in the United States, and you can feel that scale the moment you arrive. Every corner is built with families in mind, especially those with kids ages 2–12, making it the perfect mix of imagination, play, and hands-on fun. Whether you're planning a big celebration or just looking for your next unforgettable family adventure, this is one destination that truly brings your child’s favorite bricks to life.

What is Legoland?

LEGOLAND® New York Resort is where imagination leaps off the toy shelf and becomes a full-blown family adventure. This vibrant theme park is a dream come true for LEGO lovers big and small. As the largest LEGOLAND in the United States, it’s designed for kids (especially ages 2–12) with fun at the heart of every colorful corner. From brick-built worlds and interactive rides to creative play zones and larger-than-life LEGO characters, LEGOLAND New York transforms a simple day out into a memory-making journey your family won’t forget. It’s playful, it’s magical, and it’s the perfect destination for families ready to build unforgettable moments—one brick at a time.

Brick Street

Walking into LEGOLAND® New York and stepping onto Brick Street felt like our whole family had been dropped into a living LEGO world. The colors are so bright they practically glow, the music instantly lifts your mood, and the giant LEGO models had the kids pointing and giggling before we even made it through the gate. One of our very first stops—because parents know the importance of fueling up—was the LEGOLAND® Coffee Company, where we grabbed a much-needed caffeine boost while Braden got excited picking out their “first treat of the day.” It’s such a cozy, cheerful little spot, and honestly, the perfect way to ease into the magic of the park.

Just a few steps later, we were all hopping onto Brick Party, the whimsical spinning ride that kicked off the morning with big smiles and even bigger giggles. We must have spun a dozen times, laughing so hard our eyes watered. Once everyone regained their balance, we wandered over to The Big Shop, which is basically paradise for LEGO fans. It’s filled with exclusive sets, adorable souvenirs, and all the brick-tastic treasures you didn’t even know you needed.

Bricktopia

Over in Bricktopia, our family felt like we’d stepped into a world made just for playful imaginations. One of our first stops was What’s Poppin’, where we grabbed a souvenir popcorn bucket to snack on as we explored.

Build + Test is the most incredible place to build anything you can think of, and test it to make it even better! Build a car and race it! Stack a skyscraper and shake it! Send your bricks flying thru the skies, swimming thru the oceans, and more!

Our favorite adventure here was the LEGO Factory Adventure Ride, a silly and immersive journey that makes you feel like you’ve actually shrunk down to LEGO size. There’s no height limit for this ride, but kids under 52 inches need a supervising companion—so Braden got to ride right next to me, which made him extra excited.

Halfway through the ride, he leaned in with the most serious expression and asked, “Mom… did we actually shrink?” It was one of those sweet, unexpected moments that made the whole ride even more magical.

Miniland

Walking through MINILAND at LEGOLAND® New York feels like stepping into a miniature world where imagination and real-life landmarks blend together in the most magical way. Entire city skylines are handcrafted by Master Model Builders—yes, every single brick placed by hand—and built at a 1:20 scale, making the buildings look impressively tall beside little ones. With more than 22 million LEGO® bricks creating the tiny streets, bridges, and skyscrapers, there’s something new to notice everywhere you look. From tiny people and cars to hidden surprises tucked into each scene, MINILAND turns exploring into a family adventure—especially with the monthly scavenger hunt that keeps everyone engaged and excited.

For us, one of the most memorable moments of our visit happened right here. As we wandered through the tiny cities, Braden couldn’t stop pointing out every detail, his excitement bubbling over with each new discovery. At one point he stood next to a towering LEGO skyscraper, looked up at me with wide eyes, and said, “Mom… these buildings are taller than me!” Seeing him so amazed, so completely caught up in the magic of it all, was one of those perfect family-travel moments you wish you could hit pause on. MINILAND isn’t just impressive—it’s a place where imagination takes over, curiosity leads the way, and memories are built one tiny brick at a time.

Lego City

A city where dreams come to life. Beep Beep! Conquer the rules of the road while pretending to be any driver you can imagine in LEGO City! Showcase that you've passed your driving test at the Driving School Store with a personalized LEGOLAND Driver’s License and head for the open road. Do you have itty bitty ones? Don’t worry there is a Junior Driving school too! I love that there are rides for the kiddos big or small!

If that wasn't enough steer clear of flying objects, soar high in the air, and fly into the lava caves on the most incredible, exhilarating and fun LEGO race ever created! Race brick-build vehicles in the hopes of becoming the next Champion at The Great LEGO® Race Virtual Reality Experience

Your help is needed, Skippers! Join the Coast Guard and patrol the Wharf at the Coast Guard Academy- you never know when someone’s going to need your help! Take the wheel of a battery powered boat and steer a careful course around waterways avoiding various obstacles. Skippers must be at least 34 inches tall to ride.

Braden loves firetrucks, so this was a must! Step up and try your firefighting skills at Fire Academy. Believe me, this is a workout. Push the bar up and down to get your truck to the fire. Hurry get out you have a fire to put out. Race against the clock to put the fire out and get back to the station. I definitely recommend 4 people on this one. Firefighters must be at least 34 inches tall to ride.

Palace Cinema is the perfect place for your family to take a rest and enjoy some air conditioning. Take a seat at this select screening and see the latest blockbuster in amazing 4D from LEGO® City Studios!

Ninjago World

It takes great skill, dedication, and fearlessness to become one of the chosen ones. Not everyone can harness an elemental power and become a master of fire, water, earth, or air. If one wants to become a ninja, one must train where the original ninja trained. Only here can you reach your full potential. Test your mind, agility, and endurance on Cole's Rock Climb. Build up your reflexes against lightning strikes and control your balance on Kai's Spinners. Do you have what it takes to master the art of Spinjitzu at Ninja Training Camp.

After your training is complete climb into Lego Ninjago The Ride. Journey into the Monastery, where Master Wu teaches you the powers of the elements. Blast animated fireballs, lightning, and more at the villains before teaming up to defeat a powerful foe and become the ultimate Ninjago warrior. This ride has no minimum height but littles under 52 inches must be accompanied by a supervising companion.

Braden loves Ninjago so after mastering Spinjitzu on LEGO® NINJAGO The Ride, we found all the gear we need to venture into the world of Ninjago at Master Wu's Warehouse. Braden of course got his favorite Lego Ninjago set to build.

Lego Kingdoms

Climb aboard Merlin's Magical Machines. The Wizard has devised a new magical contraption to fly above the Kingdom and help defend it. But he needs your strength to help power it. Hop aboard and see how high you can get the Wizard’s magical machines to fly! Must be at least 36 inches tall to ride.

Have you not heard enough about all the fun? Well, have a roaring good time as you conquer the twists and turns of The Dragon. The red knights have broken into the castle and stolen the good wizard's staff! The King and Queen need you to chase the red wizard & his red dragon out of the castle, and reclaim the staff! For your efforts you shall be named champion of the realm! Wee ones must be at least 4 years of age and 42 inches tall to ride.

If your wee ones are too bity? Not to fear because, a new flock of baby dragons have hatched, and your help is needed to train them into being good dragons for the kingdom! They’ll need to be fed, taught – and shown how to fly with a rider! Climb aboard The Dragon's Apprentice and learn what it’s like to soar on the back of a dragon! Must be at least 36 inches tall to ride.

Toddlers are too royally small for these knightly rides but hear ye, hear ye! The King seeks Master Builders to fortify the kingdom and furnish his castle! Enter the Builder’s Guild and help construct the castle!

Lego Pirates

Over in LEGO Pirates, our family stepped into a world of swashbuckling adventures, splashing boats, and silly pirate fun. The moment we walked in, it felt like we’d entered a LEGO storybook filled with palm trees, parrots, and cheeky brick-built pirates around every corner. Between the water play areas, the playful pirate theming, and the chance for kids to feel like real explorers on the high seas, this land quickly became a favorite.

Those do-gooder Blue Coats stole our Pirates’ Treasure and locked it away inside their Fortress! On Splash Battles get behind your own water cannon as you navigate through pirate-infested waters. Aim your cannon and take your best watery shot at the other pirates on the high seas. There is no minimum height requirement. Young buccaneers less than 8 years of age and 52 inches tall must be accompanied be supervised pirates. Caution: YOU WILL GET WET!

Sailing the high seas is no easy task—the ocean’s full of dangers! Climb aboard your racing barrel in Rouge Riders and set sail, but look out for fierce storms, water spouts, and hungry beasts!! Can you navigate your way around the dangers of the deep and arrive safely back at shore? Riders must be at least 4 years of age and 42 inches tall to ride.

Buccaneers too little to face the mighty sea? Hop aboard the Shiver Me Bricks playscape and set sail for adventure! Our huge pirate ship is perfect for buccaneer & swashbuckler adventures. Jump, climb, and play above and below deck. (Please note: Playscapes are supervised for safety. Supervision hours may vary.)

What will you build in a park filled with imagination?
